Gallery: Now Showing Angela Russo Collection, to March 25h
Angela Russo’s art exhibition is made up of 3 collections of artwork – The Italian Scenery collection is comprised of artworks inspired by my travels to Italy. They evoke wonderful memories especially of the time I travelled with my father to the Aeolian Islands. The paintings of Lipari and Alicudi are very special to me as I remember when I stood in those places and shared the wonderful stories of my Father’s family history dating back to the early 1800’s.Looking back and reflecting on those times away always puts a smile on my face.
The Melbourne Collection are all of places that made me stop and appreciate the beautiful city of Melbourne. As I went about my day I would often need to stop and fully take in the beauty of the scene. Noticing the sunset over Southbank, seeing the intensity of light on the buildings and the reflections in the water. These works capture the magnificent history that Melbourne has with its buildings in Collins and Flinders St; the diversity of the scenery in Melbourne with the waters at St Kilda and Brighton and the amazing sunsets experienced in Port Melbourne.
The Animal Collection is all about the emotion you feel when gazing upon a member of the animal kingdom. Before creating each of these pieces I was able to observe and feel a connection with each. Feeling the grace of each amazing creature from the huge elephant to the thoughtful orangutan to the gazing gorilla even down to the tiniest of this collection..the hummingbird. All of these creatures are inspiring and gazing upon these paintings allows me to appreciate their beauty and reflect on what it was like to stand in their presence. I still remember the day I stumbled upon a flock of hummingbirds and just stood mesmerized in their presence, it was simply one of the most awesome sights I had seen.
I hope you enjoy this exhibition and if you wish to purchase an artwork please approach one of the staff at Sapori di Casa.
